This tour includes the five St. Petersburg landmarks that have the highest rating on the Trip Advisor's web site. We checked the museums that impress the visitors of our city the most and designed our 2-day itinerary accordingly. That is why this tour is one of our most popular two-day tour itineraries.
On the first tour day we will take you to Peterhof, the summer royal residence or Russian monarchs. You will see the Great palace of Peterhof from the outside and enjoy a walk in the magnificent fountain park. The drive to Peterhof takes about one hour. Since this tour includes a visit to Catherine's palace on the 2nd day, we do not include the tour of the Great palace of Peterhof in this itinerary. The two royal palaces are very much alike as they were built and rebuilt at the same time and by the same architects, so the interior decoration is quite similar. Besides, both Peterhof and Pushkin are very busy so visiting both palaces might be quite stressful, even though we try to quit the lines when possible. After the relaxed walk in the fountain park we return to St. Petersburg and visit one of the most famous churches of St. Petersburg - St. Isaac's Cathedral. The tour of the Cathedral takes about 30 minutes. The Hermitage museum is a 3 minutes drive from St. Isaac's Cathedral so we go there next.
The Hermitage museum is the most challenging tour of the day as it offers too much to see and to learn and requires a lot of walking. The tour takes about 2 hours and focuses on the West-European art of the 15-19th centuries. The tour includes the visit to the main museum complex that consists of 5 buildings (Winter palace, the Old Hermitage, the New Hermitage, the Small Hermitage and the Hermitage Theater) but if you are not very fond of art, the tour duration may be reduced. If you have children with you, 2 hours might be difficult for them to endure even though the tour guide adjusts the information to keep the tour interesting for all the tour participants. If you would like to see the collection of French Impressionists, we have to go to another building (General Staff Headquarters) and need to get separate tickets. That can be done if you book the private tour. The tour of one of the Gold rooms can be arranged too as part of the private tour, but it has to be booked no less than a month in advance. The Hermitage tour concludes the itinerary of the first tour day.
The second tour day only takes 6.5 hours which compensates the long first day. We take you to Catherine's palace in the morning, the drive takes about 1 hour. If you are interested in local subway, we can do a subway ride on the way to Pushkin. After being impressed by the interiors of the palace and visiting the world-famous Amber room, you will have a short walk in Catherine's park. Depending on the pace of the tour and your wish, the walk in the park can be skipped so you have more time when you return to St. Petersburg.
The last (but definitely not least) on the agenda is the colorful and joyful Church on the Spilt Blood. I don't think you ever saw a church like this one! After the visit we take you back to the cruise port where you can relax and take in the new impressions and emotions of the two days in St. Petersburg.
